Be like Christ, daily.
“Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. ”
Where do you have discipline in your life? Is it in your health, the way you eat or exercise? Are you disciplined in taking care of your home and loved ones? What about work?
For me, discipline is the combination of faith and consistency. I have to trust that what I am doing matters to God and be diligent in pursuing it. In my life, I am intentional about my health and the way I interact with others. Both areas do not necessarily come naturally, so it requires extra discipline on my part. God calls us to be disciplined, reminding us that we will “yield the peaceful fruit of righteousness.” This requires prayer. Praying is the is faith aspect of discipline. The consistency is showing up every day to whatever task you have prayed about.
What is one area where you could be more disciplined? The first thing that comes to your mind!
Pray for that thought, that thing, that action and then be consistent in your pursuit of it. God will lead you if you let Him.
Personal Prayer: God, thank you for discipline. Thank you for teaching me through consistency. You show up every day. You love me every day. I pray that you would guide my steps and pull me closer to you through daily, obedient acts. Amen.
